As always, the start of a new school year brings a tremendous amount of excitement. Along with the new school year comes the high expectation associated with athletics. Our success in athletics this past school year has certainly raised those expectations. As most of you know by now Brookstone won the Georgia Class A Director's Cup competition for the first time in school history during the 2006-2007 school year. Our girls program was the sports champion in Class A for the fourth consecutive year. This success proves once again that we indeed have a well-balanced program.
Our athletic program at Brookstone is a true student-centered program. Many of our students participate in a variety of sports throughout the year. We are proud of our young men and women for their commitment and dedication, and for the way they represent our school. I hope each of you will take the opportunity to come out as often as possible to support our athletes throughout the year.
Brookstone is fortunate to have a wonderful coaching staff consisting of both full-time and community coaches. Not only do our coaches do a tremendous job of teaching and coaching their respective sports, they excel at serving as outstanding role models for the athletes. Obviously we strive to win each time we enter a contest. However, far more important than the final score are the character-building lessons learned through athletic participation led by our staff.
For any athletic program to be successful it must rely on the help of volunteers. I would like to personally thank the countless number of volunteers who give of themselves tirelessly on behalf of our athletes and coaches. Without your support the athletic program at Brookstone School would not be what it has been and continues to be. Please know that you are truly appreciated.
Good luck to all of our teams and it is my sincere hope that each of you has a safe and successful school year!
