At the invitation of the Third Grade Dr. Robert L. Wright, Jr. spoke to the students in commemoration of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. A proponent of civil rights, Dr. Wright marched with Dr. King in the 1960's, and he has helped raise $23 million dollars for the MLK monument in Washington, DC. He and approximately 100 other people raised money for this endeavor. Each volunteer was presented with a replica of the monument which he brought for the students to enjoy. Dr. Wright's granddaughters, Sydney and Lauren, attend Brookstone.
