Headmaster Search - Parents have an opportunity to meet the two finalists for the position of Headmaster. Mr. Brian Kennerly of Weslyan School in Atlanta, GA will be in the Kirven Building Library from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20. Mr. John Marshall of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in Rabun Gap, GA will be in the Kirven Building Library from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, and 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27.
Greg Mortenson is coming to Brookstone School! Greg Mortenson, author of Three Cups of Tea, is the 2009 Literature Live speaker for Brookstone. Mr. Mortenson will speak to all Brookstone students during the day on November 12. There will be a community event that evening at the Lumpkin Center on the Columbus State University campus at 7:00. Brookstone families may pick up tickets, at no charge, from any school office. You don't want to miss this special opportunity! The Sophomore Class is planning a fun-filled Fall Festival on Friday, October 30. The hours are Pre-K: 1:00-4:00 p.m., grades 1-5: 1:30-4:00 p.m., and grades 6-8: 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Admission News - Coming up next on the Admission Calendar is the Open House on the morning of November 11 for students and parents interested in all grades at Brookstone. Please let the Admission Office know ASAP of any families you would like us to invite. Thank you!
The Brookstone Fall Book Fair will be held on campus November 9th - November 11th, from 7:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., in the Kirven Library. The in-store book fair will be held at Barnes and Noble on November 9th - November 15th. We are looking forward to having a wide variety of books again this year! All three versions of Greg Mortenson's books will be on sale, including the children's version, Listen to the Wind. The Brookstone Theatre Department will be doing a night performance of our One-Act Play competition show for the public on Tuesday night, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. This year's show is the riveting play, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, adapted from the famous novel by Ken Kesey. The play stars Freeman McCluskey in the Jack Nicholson role of R.P. McMurphy and Victoria Buck as Nurse Ratched and McKay Sheftall as Billy. The play also features Andrew Barrs, Victoria Edgar, Wesley Nicholson, Lawrence Laska, Ross Hunter, Colston Kemp, Brian Shaw, Caroline Adams, Gracie Straus, Jonathan Dreelin, Matt Augustine, Bill Flowers, Will Buck, Charley Bates, Rebecca Loney, and Lan Woodall. Tickets will be $5.00 and will be sold at the door.
All boys and girls in grades 3-6 are welcome and encouraged to participate in the 2009-2010 Brookstone Cougar Cubs basketball program. The deadline for registration is November 1st. Click here for more information and registration form.

Flu Information - If your child has been out and is ready to come back to school, you will find the Return to School Form on the Brookstone website on each school announcement page or ParentNet. Also, each School has provided parents with guidelines and procedures they should take should their child be absent from school.
Servant Leadership
Habitat for Humanity - Brookstone will start building their next Habitat House, which will be the 250th built in Columbus, on Service Day, October 20. The work will continue every Saturday after that, weather permitting, until finished. Plan on spending a Saturday morning working on the project. Service in a Session - Calling All Middle School students! The Next Service in a Session will be held on Wednesday, October 28th from 3:30-4:30 in the MS Project Room. This month's theme is "Planting Seeds of Kindness" and will involve decorating pots and planting containers for residents at Brookside Glen. Interested Middle School students should sign up at Mrs. Farley's desk.

Come check out the new merchandise in the Cougar Shoppe - hooded sweatshirts, hats and beanies. Also, a new shipment of white collared shirts, fleece jackets, vests, blankets, and ladies quilted vests have arrived. Remember the Cougar Shoppe for all of your gift needs. We can do gift certificates. We will also wrap and deliver the item anywhere on campus for a nominal charge.
