November 2, 2009
One night only----Tuesday, November 3 at 7:00. The Theatre Department presents our 2009 One-Act Play, the riveting drama, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, adapted from the famous novel by Ken Kesey. Tickets are $5.00 and will be available at the door Tuesday night. (You can get tickets ahead of time in the US office.) The play stars Freeman McCluskey in the Jack Nicholson role of R.P. McMurphy, Victoria Buck as Nurse Ratched, McKay Sheftall as Billy, and Andrew Barrs as The Chief. The play also features Victoria Edgar, Wesley Nicolson, Lawrence Laska, Ross Hunter, Colston Kemp, Brian Shaw, Caroline Adams, Gracie Straus, Jonathan Dreelin, Matt Augustine, Bill Flowers, Will Buck, Charley Bates, Rebecca Loney, and Lan Woodall. It is a fascinating show---and not very long!---you will be glad you came! At the recent Georgia Theatre Conference State Play Festival, we won Runner-Up Best Play, Freeman was named Festival Best Actor, and McKay was named to the All-Star Cast! Please come out and support this extremely talented cast before we go to Region on Thursday!
From the Admission Office - Please let the Admission Office know right away about any families you would like us to invite to the Open House on November 11. Keep spreading the word to great kids and families about the unique educational opportunities offered at Brookstone! Thank you!
Get your tickets for Greg Mortenson before it is too late! There will be a community event to hear Greg Mortenson on November 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lumpkin Center on the Columbus State University campus. All attendees must have a ticket; they are going fast and will only be available until November 11. Brookstone families may pick up tickets, at no charge, from any school office. You don't want to miss this special opportunity! For more information, contact Cindy Sparks at csparks@brookstoneschool.org.
Georgia Goal - The deadline to participate in this "win-win" opportunity that benefits you and Brookstone is mid-November. If you owe Georgia state income tax, you can have the payment redirected to Brookstone rather than the State of Georgia. The funds the School receives will provide scholarships for students who are eligible to enroll in Pre-K, Kindergarten, or those who who are transferring from a public school. All that you have to do is fill out a simple two-page form, that must be approved before making your gift. Visit www.goalscholarship.org for more information and the form. Questions - contact Catherine Trotter.
The Brookstone Fall Book Fair will be held on campus November 9th - November 11th, from 7:45 a.m.-4:00 p.m., in the Upper School Library located in the Kirven Building. The in-store book fair will be held at Barnes and Noble November 9th - November 15th. We are looking forward to having a wide variety of books again this year! All three versions of Greg Mortenson's books will be on sale, including the children's version, Listen to the Wind. Download the attached voucher, present it prior to making your purchase so that Brookstone School will receive credit. If you have any questions or if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kornisha Brown at kornisha7@hotmail.com or Joan Culpepper at jepepper@knology.net
Bridging the Gap - Please remember to support the Annual Fund this year! You can help close the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Brookstone education. You may mail your gift or go online to www.brookstoneschool.org. Thank you for your support and for making a difference in the lives of our students.
Flu Information - If your child has been out and is ready to come back to school, you will find the Return to School Form on the Brookstone website on each school announcement page or ParentNet. Also, each School has provided parents with guidelines and procedures they should take should their child be absent from school.
