Ivory Bill Woodpecker
Posted: Monday, March 30, 2009

Thanks to Sam Pate and the Audubon Society Dr. Geoff Hill from Auburn University spoke to a full auditorium of Brookstone students, parents, alums and friends on his rediscovery of the Ivory Bill Woodpecker in North Florida.   His team has worked for the last few years in the Florida panhandle to prove that the thought-to-be extinct woodpecker is still around.  Dr. Hill shared his sound recordings and video of the birds with the audience.   Chirs McClure '01, currently works with Dr. Hill at Auburn as a graduate assistant.

Four 2008 Brookstone graduates drove from Athens to attend the program.  Mr. Pate was pleased to see his former students still have an interest in ornithology.
