Learn. Dream. Lead
As students enter the Intermediate School they are given more responsibilities and freedoms. Students rotate through seven classes each day. These consist of Mathematics, Science, Grammar, Literature, Social Studies, PE, and a rotating elective. Students also have weekly class meeting time and character education.
Students experience the arts through attending The Springer Children's Theater as well as through their electives.
Students participate in an environmental service project where they learn the importance of gardening, harvesting fruits and vegetables, and taking care of our natural resources. In the fall students attend The Coca Cola Space Science Center. This is a fun day to explore science, math, and technology through the Challenger Learning Center, Interactive Simulator Exhibits, and the Omni sphere theater. In the spring, students visit The Rock Ranch to experience "Springtime on the Farm". Stations include Georgia wildlife, worms/composting, tree education, goat feeding, and seed planting.
Brookstone Intermediate School students have three planned conferences during the school year. We start the year with Parent Sharing, where parents come in and share information with the Intermediate School principal. In the fall, there is a teacher led conference to discuss standardized testing scores as well as other important issues. Lastly, in May, there is a student led conference that involves both teachers and parents. Students summarize the year with their favorite pieces of work, academic history, and expectations for the following year.
All Intermediate School students have the opportunity to participate in activities such as Student Council, Gadget Gurus, BNN (Brookstone Network News), Math Team, Technology Fair, Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, and Science Fair.
