Financial Assistance Program

It is an aim of Brookstone School to remain a feasible alternative in education for all qualified students regardless of financial need. With generous assistance from foundations, trustees, alumni and friends, the school is able to provide financial aid to a deserving percentage of its student body in grades 6-12. Brookstone School admits students of any race, color, gender, national and ethnic origin and does not discriminate in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship, financial aid and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.

Basic Principles

In order to determine the financial need of a family, the parents of each financial aid applicant must submit a detailed financial statement in writing or electronically to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid in Princeton, New Jersey. Following the analysis by the Service, the application is reviewed by Brookstone School's Financial Aid Committee.

Financial assistance is awarded annually to eligible students 6th grade and up. Each year the Financial Aid Committee requests the parents of students receiving assistance to complete a new confidential statement if they wish to be considered for the coming school year.

Students benefiting from the financial aid program are expected to maintain a passing average and satisfactory deportment.

Procedure

Parents expressing an interest in the financial aid program can request a financial aid application from Brookstone Advancement Office in early January, or they may go to www.nais.org/financialaid/sss to complete the application on-line. Applications should be submitted by March 1st to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid in Princeton, New Jersey. A copy of the family's most recent Federal 1040 form should be mailed to Brookstone School for verification purposes.

It is essential that requests be filed on time. It takes three to four weeks to process the applications, and decisions on awards must be made before the end of May in order to inform families of the assistance they can expect to receive. Late requests, therefore, may not be included in the initial allotment of aid. Any delay could make a significant difference in the amount awarded due to limited funds.
